What is the role of OSCE Academy in shaping the views about the new trends in Central Asia and Caspian Area?
R: The OSCE Academy has been established between the Government of Kirghizstan and the OSCE as an institution that would help generate new public leaders , people who could actually develop possibilities for reforms and better governance in the countries of Central Asian Region. As such, I think that through our Alumni and the people who went thought the trainings of OSCE Academy we are able to equip potentially the governments, the civil society and private sector with possibilities to realise international cooperation, including European strategy of cooperation between these countries, that is creating a better awareness of the reforms and been able to implement some of them.
What is in your opinion the role that Universities and Academies can play in promoting regional interconnectivity?
R: I think that the role of academic institutions is under realized so far but it is very important. In the course of discussions of the new European Union cooperation strategy that was one of the major themes of discussion, that is academic and educational cooperation is something we need to actually modernize more. In that sense, OSCE Academy stands as one of the already established –even though small- institutions that can contribute to humanitarian and educational bridges that stand beyond business and economic market bridges; we are therefore moving toward that direction.
